Traditional Indian Attars

The word ‘Attar’ or ‘Ittar’ comes from an ancient Persian word ‘attar’, ‘otto’ or ‘ottar’, that means perfume, fragrance or scent. Manufacturing of Attar fragrance oils is the practice of extracting scent from flowers, herbs and other botanical sources. Some attar oils are extracted from wood species as well. It is commonly known as Ittar as well in India.

Traditional Indian Attars are derived from botanical sources through an age old technique using steam distillation. Attars are 100% Natural and are mostly used as perfumes, although they can have medicinal and aphrodisiacal purposes.

Attars are generally classified based on their effects on the body. Warm Attars such as Musk, Amber and Saffron are worn in Winter as they have a warming effect. Cool Attars such as Rose, Jasmine, Vetiver are worn in Summer as they have a cooling effect.

You apply a small amount of an Attar to the pulse points on your body. The inside of the wrist, neck, behind the ear. You can also dab some inside your elbow and the back of your knees. You only need a small amount and it will be long lasting.

While we try to maintain stock levels of everything, the supply of some Herbs and Tree Resins are unreliable at the moment. If for any reason we cannot supply something in the quantity ordered, we will ship what we can straight away and then do our best to supply the balance within 7-10 days.

Blue Lotus (Nymphaea caerulea) is a psychoactive plant, also known as blue Egyptian lotus, blue water lily, and sacred blue lily. It’s been used in traditional medicine for thousands of years as a natural aphrodisiac, sleep aid, and anxiety reliever.

We also have Blue Lotus Absolute and Blue Lotus Attar.

Blue Lotus Absolute has been solvent extracted from the flowers of the Blue Lotus using an organic solvent. The scent of Blue Lotus is distinctly floral. It smells sweet and almost green. The unique fragrance of Blue Lotus makes for an enchanting personal perfume. Blue Lotus Absolute is highly concentrated and only a small amount is required in a carrier oil or your perfume blend.

Blue Lotus Attar is made by steam distilling Blue Lotus Flowers “Nymphaea caerulea”, into a base of Sandalwood oil. The unique fragrance of Blue Lotus makes for an enchanting personal perfume.

Our latest additions to the Blue Lotus range are our Blue Lotus Organic Hydrosol, ideal for use in cosmetics, and other beauty products. Any recipe requiring water can use our Blue Lotus Organic Hydrosol instead. Or for an even stronger addition to your healthy and beauty products, we have Blue Lotus Liquid Extract.
