Labdanum Absolute (Cistus ladaniferus)
$13.95 – $57.95
Description
Labdanum is a great scent for any sort of meditative work.
Labdanum is a species of rock rose and has a long history of use in herbal medicine and also as a perfume ingredient. In earlier times, labdanum was collected from the beards and thighs of the goats and sheep which had grazed on this shrub. This resin was used as an ingredient for incense and also for medicinal purposes like cold, cough, menstrual problems and rheumatism.
- Labdanum aka Rock Rose is a dark brown viscous liquid with a warm, sweet resinous, woody ambery odour, with strong notes of ambergris.
- It is extracted from the glandular hairs which cover the leaves of the shrub. It is one of perfumerys classic ingredients, and is a key ingredient of the Chypretheme, widely employed in modern perfumery.

** It is important to note that all absolutes are extremely concentrated by nature. They should not be evaluated in this state unless you are accustomed to the undiluted fragrance. For those trying Absolutes for the first time, we strongly recommend they be evaluated in dilution. Otherwise, the complexity of the fragrance – particularly the rare and exotic notes – become lost.
Absolutes can be very viscous or even solid and can be difficult to extract from the bottle. Gently warming the absolute in a water bath will melt the product and make it easier to use.
